Detroit’s museum and the Riverfront Conservancy have teamed up to bring gallery pieces into public spaces. The move is part of a long‑running project that started in 2010, called Inside Out. That program’s goal is to bring top‑tier artworks from the museum into neighborhoods and parks around Michigan.  

On July 22, visitors can join free walking tours that highlight art along the Southwest Greenway. The tour will cover seven pieces placed in the Southwest Greenway, Ralph C. Wilson Park and along the river itself.  

Participants will learn about what to expect from representatives of both organizations. Julie McFarland from the museum and Addison Mauck from the conservancy shared details on a local TV segment. The event offers a chance to see museum quality art in everyday settings, encouraging people to explore the city’s outdoor spaces.
