For the second day in a row, Hezbollah fired rockets at the Tel Aviv region, prompting millions of Israelis to rush to bomb shelters. The Lebanese Shi’ite group also targeted northern towns, including Nazareth. Two rockets heading for central Israel were intercepted by the military. No one was immediately hurt, but rocket debris damaged a car in Herzliya.
Hezbollah claimed to have targeted a military intelligence base near Tel Aviv. The previous day, the group had launched rockets at central Israel and the Upper Galilee, with most being intercepted. However, a barrage aimed at Kibbutz Neot Mordechai killed an IDF soldier and injured two others.
Overall, Hezbollah's attacks since October 2023 have killed 60 people, including Israeli civilians, soldiers, and foreign nationals. Another 570 have been wounded. These attacks followed a Hamas massacre that killed over 1, 200 people.
In response, Israel has increased its attacks on Hezbollah. The IDF confirmed that an airstrike three weeks ago killed Hashem Safieddine, a potential successor to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The strike targeted Hezbollah's main intelligence headquarters, killing 25 members, including Safieddine and Ali Hussein Hazima, the intelligence commander.
Safieddine was Nasrallah's first cousin and often acted as secretary-general when Nasrallah was away from Lebanon.
