Russia Sends Animals to North Korea: A New Twist in Their Relationship
Pyongyang, DPRKThursday, November 21, 2024
Kozlov met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to discuss closer scientific and economic ties. They even reached a new economic cooperation agreement, though details are scarce. Meanwhile, North Korea has been helping Russia in its war against Ukraine by sending troops and weapons.
This military support is significant. It's helping North Korea financially through weapons sales and payments for troops. There's also concern that Russia might share missile and nuclear technology with North Korea. Some believe that North Korea's new Hwasong-19 intercontinental ballistic missile could have been developed with Russian technical assistance.
The zoo animals aren't the only gifts from Russia. Previously, Putin sent Kim purebred horses and a luxury Russian-made limousine, showing their warming relations. This gift of animals adds a new layer to their complex relationship.
