Safety Investigation Into Tesla's Self-Driving Tech After Crashes

Earlier this week, the U. S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that they're looking into Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. Four crashes had been reported, one of which resulted in a pedestrian's death. All incidents happened when Teslas using FSD encountered road visibility issues like sun glare or fog. The question at hand is whether the system failed to spot such conditions and stop driving. This is not the first time Tesla's autonomous technology has faced scrutiny. Previously, the company settled a case involving a fatal crash and had to recall many cars due to safety concerns. Despite these setbacks, Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk, continue to push for more advanced driver assistance.

In 2019, Musk predicted fully autonomous cars within a year, but that hasn't happened yet. However, he recently introduced a supposedly self-driving robotaxi, promising it'll be ready by 2027.
