The Promise

Three years ago, San Diego's mayor launched "Build Better San Diego" with a noble goal: to revitalize old parts of the city and promote equality.

The Reality

But now, the plan seems to be backfiring.

The College Area: A Case Study

  • Proposed: 34,150 new houses
  • Current Infrastructure:
  • One tiny park
  • No fire station

Other Areas: Privileged and Untouched

  • More parks
  • Better buildings
  • Fire stations

The Disparity

The mayor claims to want "one city." But the plan creates two:

  • One city: Rich in resources
  • Other city: Lacking resources

The Criticism

  • Adding more people without adequate infrastructure
  • Not fixing problems, exacerbating them
  • Unfair to current residents

The Verdict

This is not a good plan. It's not fair.
