Saying Goodbye: A Dog's Final Moments
Losing a pet is never easy. It's a tough decision to make, but sometimes it's the kindest choice. This is the story of two dogs, Clare and Kiska, and their final moments.
Clare's Peaceful Farewell
Clare, an old dog with bad hips, was put to sleep at home. The vet came over and gave her a sedative. She didn't even realize what was happening. She just took a treat and lay down on her favorite rug. Then, the vet gave her a shot that stopped her heart. It was quick and painless.
"It was peaceful."
The vet even said it was a good way to go. And he was right.
Kiska's Swift Goodbye
Years later, it was Kiska's turn. She was a fit 11-year-old Alaska husky mix. But suddenly, she got very sick. She could hardly move. She was so weak that she couldn't even get out of the car. She just lay there, exhausted and confused.
The vet came and gave her a sedative. She fell asleep, and then the vet gave her the final shot. It was over in minutes.
A Reminder of Life's Journey
It's hard to see a pet go. But it's also a reminder that we all have to go sometime. And when it's our time, we hope it's as peaceful as Clare's and Kiska's.
