Science Olympiad Draws 60 Teams to Grand Valley for Regional Showdown

Grand Valley State University will welcome more than 50 middle and high school teams on March 21 for the Region 12 Science Olympiad competition.

- Participants: Teams from Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon counties
- Challenges: 47 STEM events
Competition Format

The day begins at 8 a.m. and concludes around 3 p.m., with contests spread across campus sites.
Schedule Highlights
- 4:30 p.m. – Awards ceremony in the Fieldhouse Arena, celebrating top performers who will advance to the state tournament on April 25.
- 2–4 p.m. – STEM showcase featuring career paths, local businesses and community partners.
About the Tournament
- Organized by Grand Valley’s Regional Math and Science Center.
- Part of a national network hosting 6,300 teams at 425 events across all states.
- Grand Valley has supported Science Olympiad for 42 years, aiming to inspire future scientists, engineers and innovators.
Qualified teams: 10 high schools and 8 middle schools will move on to the state competition, where they can continue showcasing their talents.
