Diabetic macular edema is a serious eye condition that can lead to vision loss. While clinical trials often show promising results, real-world treatment can be tough. Patients, healthcare providers, and clinic staff all face hurdles that make managing this condition difficult. These problems can include administrative hassles, clinic issues, social barriers, and personal challenges for patients. This can make the process stressful for both patients and clinics, and it may not lead to the best vision outcomes.
To better understand these challenges, a global survey was conducted. The goal was to hear from patients, healthcare providers, and clinic staff about the obstacles they face in managing diabetic macular edema. By learning about these issues, opportunities to improve eye care for people with diabetes can be identified.
