Senator McConnell Hospitalized Again

Washington, D.C., USAMonday, June 15, 2026
Senator Mitch McConnell, 84, was taken to the hospital on Sunday morning, a spokesperson confirmed. The spokesman said Mr. McConnell is getting good care but gave no details about why he was admitted. He has had several health setbacks lately. In February, he spent a week in the hospital with flu‑like symptoms. Earlier this year, he fell hard and needed a concussion treatment that led to a stay in a rehab center.
McConnell grew up with polio, which left him with a noticeable limp. He now often uses a wheelchair to move from his office to the Capitol, although he walked unaided just last week. After leaving his role as party leader in 2024, he now chairs the defense subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee. He has warned President Trump that adding extra military funds to a reconciliation bill would miss a chance to strengthen the nation’s defense budget.
