Shadows in the Spotlight: The Unsettling Reality of Hollywood's Dark Secrets
Los AngelesFriday, September 20, 2024
Bill Cosby, another Hollywood giant, was the first celebrity to go on trial in the #MeToo era. His case began in 2015, when a district attorney filed charges against him just days before the 12-year statute of limitations was about to run out. Cosby was convicted and sentenced to up to a decade in prison, but his conviction was later overturned due to a technicality. He has been accused of rape, sexual assault, and sexual harassment by more than 60 women.
R. Kelly, the R&B singer, was convicted of producing child sexual abuse materials and federal sex trafficking charges. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison and faces further appeals.
Sean “Diddy” Combs, the hip-hop mogul, was arrested in 2022 and faces federal racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. He is accused of using his power and prestige to induce women and men into drug-fueled sexual performances.
Other notable cases include Kevin Spacey, who was acquitted of sexual assault charges in England, and Cuba Gooding Jr., who pleaded guilty to forcibly kissing a nightclub worker.
