Smart Nanoparticles in Cancer Fight: Where We Stand
Friday, December 13, 2024
Redesigning these nanoparticles to make them better and safer has been the focus of many scientists, including some who have worked on this for over 17 years. They've tried adding different bits to safe materials like biodegradable polymers and water-soluble polymers. This minimal change is key to getting these particles ready for use in patients.
Various types of nanoparticles have been made, such as those that can shed their shells or react to acid, and even ones that can get through the blood-brain barrier. All these are designed to better target tumors. This work shows a path to making better medicines for specific cancer treatments and vaccines. It might push forward the use of these smart nanoparticles in real-world treatments and inspire more research.
