Smoky Skies Over the Bay Area: Canada's Wildfires Strike Again

Wildfires in Canada. A meteorologist from the National Weather Service explained that a low-pressure system moved through the Pacific Northwest. This system ended the heat wave but also pulled smoke from central Canada down to the Bay Area. The Bay Area Air District had to issue a smoke advisory. This was because the air quality was only moderately healthy in the morning. The wildfires started last week in Saskatchewan, Canada. More than 25, 000 people had to leave their homes in three different provinces. Most of these people were from Manitoba, which declared a state of emergency. About 17, 000 people were evacuated there, along with 1, 300 in Alberta and 8, 000 in Saskatchewan. The number of evacuees could go up.

The meteorologist said the smoke wasn't getting trapped or slowed down. It was just passing through. The weather pattern was expected to stay the same all week. The forecast was for smoggy but clear skies with temperatures in the 70s, except for a few areas. By Saturday, temperatures might go up a bit, and more of the region could see temperatures in the 80s. The smoke from the wildfires was a reminder of how connected we all are.
