Snoop Dogg’s Company Seeks to Drop Out of Drakeo Lawsuit
Snoop Dogg’s business wants the court to dismiss its name from a lawsuit that follows Drakeo the Ruler’s death in 2021. The case began after a backstage fight at the Once Upon a Time in L A festival, where Drakeo was stabbed. Family members sued several organizers for not giving enough security.
The claim says that the event had known safety problems and that the promoters did not act properly. Snoop’s company was only listed as a promoter, but he says it had no control over the venue or security. He argues that his role was just to perform, not to manage the festival.
In new court papers, Snoop asks for a summary judgment that would end the case against his business before it goes to trial. He says no one from his company was involved in the altercation or with anyone who killed Drakeo. The filing also points out that another defendant, the stadium owner, already won a similar ruling earlier this month.
The lawsuit was filed by Drakeo’s brother, who blamed several concert companies for failing to protect attendees. Snoop’s lawyers stress that the company had no operational say in how the festival ran, and therefore should not be held liable. The case is still pending, but Snoop’s motion could clear his name if the judge agrees.
