Guess what, Utah! It's a chilly morning with snow showers bustling in the mountains and valleys. The Wasatch Front is expecting some light snow, while the northern mountains are getting a good heap. The snow is likely to stick around until early afternoon, but it should quiet down by evening. Get ready for some seriously cold temperatures—we're talking near 40°F for afternoon highs, which is about 10°F below average.
There's a Winter Weather Advisory up for the Wasatch Mountains and Western Uintas until 3 p. m. today. Experts are predicting around 6-12 inches of snow for the Wasatch Mountains and 4-8 inches for the Western Uintas. So, be extra careful on the roads in mountain areas; they could be icy.
Looking ahead, Sunday should be a brief break before another weather system rolls in on Monday and Tuesday, bringing colder temperatures and a bit more precipitation. It's still a bit uncertain, but we might see some valley snow with minor accumulations. By Wednesday morning, temps could dive into the teens or even single digits in some spots.
Midweek, high pressure will build, bringing calmer weather. Depending on how everything sets up, we could get either chilly northerly winds or a slight warm-up. Either way, valley inversions and fog might be on the way for next week.
