Snowy Surprise: What We Know About the Upcoming Winter Storm in Southeast Michigan
Southeast MichiganWednesday, February 12, 2025
The winter storm watch is expected to be upgraded to a weather advisory or even a warning in the next 24 hours. Models are showing snowfall to be between 4 and 7 inches.
The area closest to the Ohio border seems to be at risk for a "wintry mix", which means more rain than snow. If the warm air from Ohio moves further north, it could turn the maybe snow in to a rainy winter storm. This will cause less snow to fall in the south near the Ohio border.
The more sensitive models will be windy. In other words, the weather people will track this storm and change numbers and estimates.
The amount of snow will depend on the track of the upcoming low-pressure system. For instance, if the event turns east when it approaches the great lakes it will have more snow.
The atmosphere is super sensitive to the events leading up to this and will change the way the storm reacts. This is complicated, so the amount is sensitive and will vary.
