Soil Salinity and Waterlogging in Egypt's Nile Delta: A Threat to Farming and History
EgyptThursday, November 14, 2024
The water used for irrigation is often too salty and has too much sodium for the soil. This causes problems because the soil doesn't let water through easily. The water underground, close to the surface, is also very salty. This salty water makes the soil even saltier. All these things together make the soil really unhealthy and bad for farming. They also make old buildings and artifacts underground break down faster.
