While money businesses are big everywhere, Southeast Asia has more companies dealing with energy and materials. The biggest firms in the region sell things like oil or gas, or they're owned by the government. This was also true in the U.S. a long time ago. Even though Southeast Asia is making more stuff now, it still depends heavily on selling basic resources.
