Get ready, Southern Colorado! A Winter Weather Advisory is still active until 8 P. M. , bringing moderate to heavy snow that could last into the early night. As we approach midnight, the region is expected to dry up. Tonight is going to be extra chilly, with lows dipping below zero across Southern Colorado. Along the I-25 corridor and the Eastern Plains, expect lows in the single digits below zero, while the High Country Region will see lows in the double digits below zero.
A Cold Weather Advisory kicks in tonight at 11 P. M. and will stick around until 5 P. M. on Monday. During this period, wind chills could plummet to a bone-chilling 24 degrees below zero. Sunday will be cold and dry, with highs in the teens to low twenties along the I-25 corridor and the Eastern Plains. The High Country Region might see some snow in the afternoon and will have highs below zero, ranging from single digits to teens.
As we move from Sunday night into Monday morning, there's a chance for snow across the High Country Region, the I-25 corridor, and the Eastern Plains. Most of Southern Colorado can expect lows below zero, with a few Eastern Plains towns dipping into the single digits. Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be the coldest day of this cold spell, with highs in the single digits or teens across Southern Colorado.
Monday night is set to be extremely cold, with an Extreme Cold Watch in effect from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning. Wind chills could drop to dangerous levels below 31 degrees. Stay indoors to avoid the harsh conditions. Lows on Monday night will range from single to double digits below zero.
Tuesday finally brings some warmth, with highs in the upper 20s to 30s and sunny skies across Southern Colorado. As the work week progresses, temperatures will rise above freezing by the middle of the week, with sunny skies continuing. By Friday, temperatures should reach the 40s, and the region will remain dry.
