Spotify's AI Gives Brenda Lee's Classic a Spanish Twist

For the first time ever, Brenda Lee's holiday classic, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree, " has been given a Spanish makeover. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the iconic song, and the new version, titled "Noche Buena y Navidad, " was just released in time for the festive season. The project was led by Grammy winner Aureo Baqueiro, who kept the original music and background vocals but replaced Lee's lead vocals with a new Spanish-language vocal created using SoundLab's AI MicDrop tool.

The tool, an audio plug-in, can transform someone's voice into another person's voice, making it seem like Lee was back in the recording booth at age 13, singing the song in Spanish. Universal Music Group praised the use of responsible AI technology for creating this new version. Lee herself expressed surprise and delight at the Spanish version, saying she would have loved to record "Rockin'" in Spanish during her career but never got the chance until now.
