Alarm bells are ringing for North Texas residents, especially those in Montague, Jack, Young, Wise, Cooke, and Grayson counties. A Flood Watch is active until 3 p. m. on Monday, warning of significant rainfall—up to 5 inches in some areas. A dry line and Pacific cold front are expected to bring widespread showers and thunderstorms by Monday afternoon. Severe weather, including damaging winds and hail, is possible, with a risk of tornadoes. The National Weather Service urges everyone to stay alert and prepared. The storms should clear by Tuesday, but more rain is expected from Wednesday night through Friday.
Monday morning will be mostly cloudy and muggy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms. The temperature will drop to a low of 70 degrees. Winds will pick up from the south-southeast at 10-20 mph, with higher gusts. Monday itself promises a 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe. The high will reach 77 degrees.
The rest of the week looks milder. Election Day Tuesday will be partly sunny and cooler, with a low of 56 and a high of 67 degrees. The wind will shift to the northwest at 10-15 mph. Wednesday will be partly sunny and pleasant, gradually clouding over in the evening. Thursday and Friday hold a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with highs around 70-71 degrees. Saturday and Sunday will be partly sunny and mild, with highs of 70 and 72 degrees, respectively.
