Stormy Weather Alert: Metro Detroit's Evening Forecast
Metro Detroit, USAThursday, April 3, 2025
By 2:30 p. m. , the first batch of rain has moved out of Metro Detroit, but a second line is starting to move through. The severe weather threat has been lowered to a slight risk, which is a level 2 out of five. This change is due to the morning's showers and storms, which sucked up a lot of energy in the atmosphere. Flooding and strong winds remain a concern, with the possibility of hail and isolated tornadoes.
Over the next couple of hours, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected. There might be a brief break in the storms between 5-7 p. m. , but the evening is likely to bring heavy rain, strong winds, lightning, and thunder. Scattered showers will continue into early Thursday morning, but the severe risk should be over by midnight.
The weather team has issued an alert due to the potential for strong and severe storms. The temperature is increasing, and there's plenty of rain on the way. There was a brief lull in the action from 1-1:30 p. m. , but the severe risk level for all of Southeast Michigan is now at a level 2 out of 5, or "slight. " The area is under a flood watch from 8 p. m. Wednesday through 8 a. m. Thursday.
