Story TV and Applause Team Up to Bring Bite‑Sized Drama to India
Story TV and Applause Entertainment Forge Partnership to Expand Microdrama Library
Story TV, a fast‑growing microdrama app that lets users watch one‑minute episodes on their phones, has signed a deal with Applause Entertainment to create and share new short‑form shows. The partnership will cover a range of genres, including the romantic thriller “Hello Mini”, which Story TV plans to turn into a vertical microdrama.
Applause, known for high‑quality series on platforms such as Netflix and Prime Video, will help the app expand its library with fresh content. The two companies aim to reach more viewers by mixing storytelling and technology, a strategy that could push microdramas into mainstream entertainment.
Since its launch in July 2025, Story TV has attracted more than 50 million users and built a catalog of over 1,000 titles in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. According to Sensor Tower data cited by the app, it ranks second among entertainment apps worldwide in terms of downloads.
Saurabh Pandey, founder and CEO of Story TV, said the collaboration will bring premium storytelling to a format that is still emerging in India. He added that partnering with Applause will help the platform grow its audience and raise production standards.
Prasoon Garg, chief business officer at Applause, described the tie‑up as a careful entry into a new storytelling arena. He noted that working with Story TV gives the studio insight into how microdramas perform with viewers while allowing both sides to test creative possibilities.
Applause Entertainment, led by media veteran Sameer Nair, has produced acclaimed dramas for major streaming services and recently expanded into films, documentaries, and children’s animation on YouTube. The new partnership marks another step as the studio explores innovative formats for mobile audiences.
