The news just in is that drinking straws are going to make a comeback at government offices in the U. S.  It was announced from a post on a website that the previous plan to have them removed by 2035 is now no longer happening.

        The government had plans to get rid of all single-use plastics, but the person in charge of the country has different feelings about this. He has personally criticized the use of paper straws.  The reason for this is that he believes they don't last as long as plastic straws and will fall apart before you finish your drink.

        He has made his feelings about straws known for a while.  In 2020, he was fighting to get re-elected and sent out reusable straws to those who were supporting him.  He has even spoken out about how he doesn't like the restrictions on plastic straws.

    The previous plan to phase out plastic straws is the latest effort in dealing with plastic pollution.  The world is producing more and more plastic and this is causing issues around the globe.

Plastic waste is ending up in our oceans, killing animals.  The plastic can be found anywhere from the deepest depths of the ocean to the highest mountains of the world.  It can also be found in the atmosphere.  The results of this plastic waste can be very dangerous to animals and humans.  It can be found in the blood and brain and even in a woman's womb.

This plastic waste is also causing harm to our environment.  It is caused by the burning of fossil fuels and by the middle of this century, it will be responsible for a fifth of the carbon emissions in the world.

Green groups have pointed out that the love that is shown for plastics by the president will only make the situation worse.  He says that the previous plan to get rid of plastic straws is no longer happening.  The person in charge of the country will be making a decision next week.
