Street‑Smarts Sports Show
Alex Day has turned quick facts about baseball, football and more into a hit show that keeps viewers guessing.
The idea started when he noticed how much people love trivia and decided to pair that with the buzz of a new platform called Whistle.
Day’s journey began as a producer for the Yankees on YES Network, but when the pandemic cut his job short he turned to TikTok.
There he posted fast‑paced sports takes and grew a following that led him to launch his own page, “No Huddle Sports.”
In 2021 he joined Overtime and became a familiar face, hosting studio segments and doing “man‑on‑the‑street” interviews.
Now the show, titled Heat Check, debuted on February 25 in partnership with Team Whistle.
Its format is designed to work across athletes, major events and the company’s talent roster.
The show invites fans to play along, laugh at wrong answers and enjoy banter that sparks discussion online.
Whistle has long worked with popular sports channels like Dude Perfect and recently shifted focus to short‑form content.
Team Whistle’s president, Joe Caporoso, says the new initiative aims to stay flexible as social media trends change.
Day records everything on New York streets, capturing real reactions from strangers and athletes alike.
He says the city’s vibe keeps his content authentic, and he loves how New Yorkers rally around their teams.
He has interviewed well‑known names such as Amon‑Ra St. Brown, Chance the Rapper and Cam Skattebo, but still hopes to meet Derek Jeter.
For Day, sports are a bridge that brings people together—whether it’s fans in Giants shirts or Yankees caps.
