Student Loan Borrowers Get Another Chance to Start Fresh
Friday, October 4, 2024
The original deadline was September 30, but due to some technical glitches on the department's website, they had to extend it. This is great news because even though the 12-month "on-ramp period" ends on September 30, those who apply now can still get back in control of their loans.
During the pandemic, federal student loan payments were put on hold. The Education Department has been protecting borrowers from the worst effects of missed payments. Now that things are returning to normal, this extension is a big deal. It's like they're giving you another chance to manage your loans better.
