Syria's Shifting Power: Who Gains, Who Loses?

In 2016, I shared a Ramadan meal with Syrian ex-rebels in Turkey. They spoke of the brutal tactics used by the Assad regime. Fast forward to today, the Assad regime has fallen, and the world is watching the ripple effects. Countries like Turkey, Iran, Russia, Israel, and the U. S. are feeling the shakeup. Assad leaned heavily on Russia and Iran for support, but their military struggles elsewhere left them unable to save him. Russia's influence is waning, and Iran's losses are significant.

Israel, on the other hand, benefits from the weakened "axis of resistance. " Turkey, which backed the rebels, is in a strong position to shape Syria's future. The U. S. might not like Turkey, but they're better than Russia or Iran. For Syria to find peace, it needs a government that includes all its people, regardless of religion or ethnicity. The future is uncertain, but the fall of Assad offers hope for those who suffered under his rule.
