Taiwan Faces Massive Typhoon Kong-rey
TaiwanSaturday, November 2, 2024
This massive typhoon stretches 198 miles, making it the biggest storm Taiwan has seen in nearly 30 years. To give you a sense of scale, it's larger than Typhoon Gaemi, which hit the island in July and was the strongest storm in eight years. That storm left more than 200 deaths across Asia. Now, Taiwan is bracing for the worst again.
There are already reports of 27 people injured due to the storm. Trees have been knocked down, and mudslides have occurred, highlighting the potential danger of Kong-rey. Companies like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company are also preparing, activating routine typhoon alert processes.
Keep in mind, this will be the third typhoon to hit Taiwan since July. Typhoon Krathon passed through earlier this month, killing four people. Now, Kong-rey is next, and everyone is urged to take it seriously. Remember, the bigger a storm, the more significant the impact, and Kong-rey is one of the biggest.
