Teacher Charged with Child Abuse Still on Staff?

A teacher at Lower Richland High School, Eric Marshall Favor Jr. , 29, faces serious accusations in Marion County. The charges include second- and third‑degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, conspiracy, and aiding prostitution involving a child. The case began on Feb. 10 when the sheriff’s office filed the allegations. The Richland One School District became aware of Favor’s arrest shortly after it happened. On Feb. 11 a district spokesperson confirmed that they knew about the incident and identified Favor as a teacher in their system. When asked later, the district said that its earlier statement was still correct and gave no indication of any disciplinary steps.

Until at least Feb. 17, Favor remained listed in the school’s online faculty directory. No official move to remove him from teaching duties has been reported, even though the charges are severe and involve a minor. Meanwhile, law enforcement plans to arrest Favor again later in the week. The sheriff’s office could not be reached for a comment on whether the new arrest will change his employment status or affect school policy.
