Tech Titans in Beijing's Sights

US tech giants are in Beijing's cross-hairs. China's watchdog for market regulation is now investigating Google and Nvidia, and it’s mulling over a fresh probe into Intel. These moves are mostly raised as the tit-for-tat retribution for Washington’s new tariffs. In other words, China’s tech war is escalating. Intel's status as China's largest customer outside the US. This probe targeted specifically at Intel’s high-end chips and engines that power a majority of the server PC systems globally. What will Beijing’s move ultimately accomplish? That’s to be seen. Windows of time is the right choice for trade talks as Beijing sends a strong message as China’s market regulator swung into action to see what results. However, these actions are ultimately retaliation. Will China's strategy accomplish its goals? There's a good argument to be made that there are other ways to shield Chinese companies. China’s constituent industries are feeling the weight US trade restrictions. Nothing new, right? Linked to retaliation, Chinese regulators revived older investigations, refocusing on the dominance of a US operating system and the subsequent negative impact on Chinese phomemakers such as Xiaomi and Oppo.

Google and Nvidia are no strangers to ant-trust scrutiny. Early last year Samsung, Beijing's regulators strangled Nvidia with complains of violating commitments. The acquisition of Mellanox Technologies (Israeli networking equipment manufacturer) finalized in 2020. Companies worldwide, from competitors to Chinese officials, have been engaged in discussions. Intel took a proactive step in it’s meeting with Commerce Ministry officials. They diplomatically greeted them ; \“Nvidia is encouraged to grow and prosper more in the Chinese market. \\\ A slash here, an aperture there, China believes tech companies weigh heavily on the present us China relation. These steps aren’t the norm. Some propose using time wise antirust steps carefully. It is a murking risky trade strategy. The posturing continues between the US and Beijing. Having dual advantage levering words crawled to selling out chips and tech stacks are crucial. Here goes Washington proud, trade deals flexing protection permeates Chinese reach sleek keywords with China market regulators face off.
