Technology Meets Crime: AI Drama Heads to Cannes

Meet Cold Mind, an indie crime drama created in Portugal. It’s heading to MIPCOM Cannes with Spy Manor Productions looking for buyers. This isn’t your typical detective story; it dives into the world of AI and its limits. Think of a murder mystery set in the sunny Algarve. Niahm McCormack plays a young London detective, and she ends up working with a veteran officer played by Paulo Calatre. Oh, and there’s Paulo’s AI ‘mentors’ inside a pendant. These mentors include his late brother’s AI, who’s always there to help. But things go south when the AI tech seems to go wrong. Suddenly, the police want the project shut down. The story explores a big question: can AI be a hero or a villain in our tech-driven world?

The show was written by Ross Jameson and directed by Simon Hunter. It stars a bunch of talented actors like Tim Fellingham and Jake Kenny-Byrne. The score is original, made by Debbie Wiseman, and the cinematography is by August Jakobsson. Exec producers Alex and Vanda Everke know their stuff about tech and AI.
