Temperature's Impact on Bacteria in Mountain Streams
Taizicheng River, ChinaSunday, December 29, 2024
Interestingly, the jobs these bacteria do didn't change much. Tests showed that temperature and nutrients are key drivers of bacterial community structure, with temperature having a direct impact on bacterial metabolism. The findings also revealed that temperature affects bacteria both directly and indirectly by influencing sediment conditions. Although temperature and nutrients don't significantly alter the bacteria's functions, understanding how they affect community structure is crucial for protecting mountain stream ecosystems.
