Offline events were also a hit. Their "Music For Passion" festival in Chengdu drew big crowds and featured popular artists.
Premium audio is a major draw. About half of their top subscribers use enhanced audio formats. Kugou Music even launched a new sound effect for external speakers. These perks, like early concert access and exclusive merchandise, help keep users coming back. Long-form audio, like "The Grave Robbers' Chronicles, " also did very well, surpassing 10 million streams quickly.
A big part of their profit came from a one-time gain of $327 million. This was from getting a 2% stake in Universal Music Group. This investment was reclassified, triggering a gain on the original investment. Their operating profit jumped by 146. 9% to $666 million. Their gross margin also went up to 44. 1%, thanks to more subscriptions and ads, and lower costs from social entertainment.
The company ended the quarter with $5. 19 billion in cash and investments. They also repurchased 5. 9 million shares and paid out a dividend of $0. 18 per share in April. This shows they are confident in their future and want to reward their shareholders.
