The world's top EV battery maker, CATL's Robin Zeng, has some doubts about Tesla's 4680 battery project. He thinks it might not live up to expectations. These special batteries, named after their size (46mm by 80mm), were supposed to be a game-changer. Tesla said they'd have five times the energy and cost less. They're already in some Tesla cars, like the Cybertruck. Tesla even made 100 million of them in a short time. But Zeng isn't convinced. He thinks Tesla might not have the skills to make these batteries work on a big scale. There have been problems, like the batteries collapsing and issues with a new technology called dry electrode. Zeng and Tesla's boss, Elon Musk, even had a heated chat about it. CATL makes batteries for Tesla's China cars. They use a different type, called LFP, which is cheaper and safer. The debate between CATL and Tesla shows there are many ways to think about the future of battery tech. Some companies are looking into new types, like solid-state batteries. Zeng also mentioned that Musk often sets very tight deadlines to push people. This has made some in the industry and consumers doubtful about Tesla's promises.
