Tesla's Cybertruck Recall: A Closer Look

The Cybertruck, Tesla's futuristic electric pickup, is facing its biggest recall yet. Over 46, 000 units, produced from November 2023 onwards, are affected. The problem? A part called the cant rail, which is a stainless-steel trim panel, can detach from the vehicle. This isn't just a minor inconvenience. A loose panel on the road can cause accidents, posing a serious safety risk. This recall is the eighth for the Cybertruck, but it's the largest. Previous issues included faulty windshield wipers, stuck accelerator pedals, and potential loss of power to the wheels. Tesla started looking into the cant rail problem in January, after receiving around 150 complaints from drivers. Fortunately, no accidents have been reported due to this issue. Tesla assures that the problem affects only about 1% of the recalled vehicles. The company will fix the issue for free, as it's covered under warranty.

Tesla isn't having an easy time lately. Sales are dropping, and the company is facing backlash. Meanwhile, three people are facing charges for setting fire to Tesla cars and charging stations. The US Attorney General has labeled these acts as "domestic terrorism. " The Cybertruck's sales figures aren't officially disclosed by Tesla. However, estimates suggest that around 39, 000 units were sold in the US last year. This recall affects nearly all of them, raising questions about the vehicle's reliability.
