The Mystery of the Unwanted Signal Chat Guest
Washington DC, USAMonday, March 31, 2025
The national security council confirmed the chat's authenticity. They are still investigating how Goldberg ended up in the group. Some theories suggest it was a simple mistake, like selecting the wrong contact. Others think it might have been intentional sabotage.
Democratic senator Mark Warner was critical of the incident. He said that if a military officer or CIA agent had been this careless with classified information, they would have been fired. Warner uses Signal himself but agrees that it's not a place for classified info.
Congressman Mike Turner welcomed an investigation into the matter. He called it "Signalgate" and wanted to know if such conversations should happen on Signal. Despite the controversy, he praised the Houthi strikes as a successful operation.
Susan Rice, who served as national security adviser under Barack Obama, called the leak "extraordinarily reckless. " She said even the existence of the conversations was classified. Rice believed this kind of behavior would not be tolerated in a normal administration.
