The Path to Clean Energy - and the Roadblocks
USAWednesday, February 12, 2025
People in charge might say they aim to stall clean energy projects, but this is a tough sell. The clean energy movement has gained significant momentum. Also, the clean energy economy is already strong and growing. So, it's going to be a long road for whoever tries to halt this progress.
The United States has managed to cut greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining the same level of energy consumption for over two decades. This is impressive, considering the economy has nearly tripled and the population has grown by 20 percent. The power sector alone has seen a shift from coal to cleaner sources. This is a big deal because the power sector produces a lot of the country's greenhouse gases.
The energy market has seen a lot of changes and is not going to stop anytime soon. The momentum towards cleaner, cheaper sources of energy is huge. They might not be allowed to slow the clean energy investments flowing from the Inflation Reduction Act and the bipartisan infrastructure law into Republican districts nationwide. The energy market is strong, and the momentum is strong. It's going to be a rough road for anyone trying to disrupt that progress.
