One particularly disturbing incident involved a couple in North Carolina who were violently assaulted and forced to open their Coinbase account, allowing the gang to transfer funds into their own accounts. The gang's tactics were brazen and violent, with members dressing up as construction workers to gain access to homes and then using remote access software to take control of victims' accounts. The authorities were eventually able to track down the gang members, who were sentenced to prison for their crimes.
