The Shady World of Predatory Journals
Tuesday, January 7, 2025
So, how can we spot these fakes? First, check if the journal is indexed. That means it's listed in a big library of science journals. If it's not, be careful. Also, see if it has a weird website or strange contact info. Real journals usually have a professional-looking site and easy-to-find contact details.
There's more we can do to fight back. We can teach researchers about predatory journals and how to spot them. We can also create better tools to help people check if a journal is legit. After all, science is about sharing real knowledge, not wasting time on fakes.
