The Sims Re-Release: EA Misses the Mark

EA recently dropped two old-school classics, The Sims and The Sims 2, onto Steam under the name "The Legacy Collection, " but fans aren't too thrilled. The games are basically the same as they were when they first came out, which is cool for some nostalgic feels. But, there's a downside. There are a lot of technical issues. A lot. People have been complaining on forums and Reddit about the games not launching, crashing, or looking pretty funky. EA didn't even bother to add basic stuff that every game on Steam has these days, like achievements or Steam Cloud support. These are no big deal to fix. Try and get the game up and running for a while. The Sims is still fun, but you have to wonder why EA didn't put more effort into it. They have the money and resources for it. EA missed a big chance to make this game really special.

Some might say, "Well, it's fine to keep the game the same. " And that's true. The nostalgia is nice, but when you've got a huge company like EA behind it, there are certain things you expect to work. EA just didn't meet its own standards. You can't just throw a game up on a platform and call it a day. It's simple. Games need to work on modern machines, and they need to have basic features like cloud saves and achievements. So, while The Sims is still a good game, this re-release feels a bit like a missed opportunity. Remember, EA has a big reputation and a lot of money. EA has the power to do more. They could have made this a way more memorable experience.
