Thieves Compete in a Magical 1900s City: A New Stealth Game

Ever wondered what it would be like to pull off a heist in a city bathed in neon lights and subtle magic? That's exactly what Thick as Thieves, a new stealth action game, offers. Created by some of the minds behind the classic Thief series, this game takes place in an alternate history version of the early 1900s. The city is designed with curving cobblestone streets, and thieves can be found prowling the rooftops or sneaking through the sewers. The game is all about competition. Four players control different thieves, each with their unique skills and gear. They must balance their own quests with a main heist mission where they're competing against each other. There's no one right way to succeed. You could sneak through the entire mission undetected, or you could ambush a rival thief and steal their hard-earned loot. Just keep an eye out for guards and environmental hazards – or maybe even use them to your advantage by turning guards against your rivals.

Warren Spector, known for his work on Thief and Deus Ex, is one of the main creators behind Thick as Thieves. He wanted to improve on the traditional immersive sims. "We thought we could do better, " he said. "Let's make a stealth action game, with a capital S and a capital A. " Thick as Thieves is set for release in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It promises to add a fresh twist to the stealth genre by incorporating competitive multiplayer into the mix.
