Three Stars Shine as Louisiana Ends School Year

Louisiana’s education leaders wrapped up the 2025‑26 academic year by naming three standout students at a ceremony held on May 18 at LSU’s Lod Cook Conference Center.

Elementary Award

Sanil Savita Thorat – Fairfield Magnet School, Caddo Parish

• Participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
• Completed the “1, 000 Books Before Kindergarten” challenge.
• Aspires to a career in medicine and volunteers with local health groups.

Middle School Award

Kaejha Mary‑Anne Christine Stewart – A. E. Phillips Laboratory School, Lincoln Parish

• Performed at Carnegie Hall.
• Leads the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
• Member of the National Junior Honor Society, Science Olympiad, and MathCounts teams.

High School Award

Melissa An Le – Ruston High School, Lincoln Parish

• Set to attend Harvard; previously earned the middle school honor.
• Served as student‑body president and held a state‑wide role with Future Business Leaders of America.
• Launched the “STEM to Bloom” video series, reaching thousands.
• Serves on the National Girls Collaborative Project board.

These recognitions illustrate how Louisiana’s students are excelling in diverse arenas—from spelling bees to performing arts, from scientific competitions to social media outreach. They also highlight the importance of community involvement and future‑focused goals in shaping well‑rounded leaders.
