Tim Cook's China Visit: Is Apple Intelligence the Key?
ChinaThursday, October 24, 2024
But there's a catch. Apple needs to get through some strict regulations to launch Apple Intelligence here. This could make people less excited about upgrading to the new iPhone 16.
Weibo is one of the local apps that's already working on stuff for Apple's new mixed reality headset, Vision Pro. Cook often visits China, Apple's biggest overseas market. He was here in March to open a new store and last year to check on demand.
The iPhone 16 launched strongly in China, with sales up 20%. But overall, iPhone sales are down 2% yearly. Apple's facing tough competition from local brands and Huawei. Huawei's even planning to launch a mixed reality headset soon.
