The morning drive program at 98.5 The Sports Hub has been through quite a few changes lately. First there was the departure of Rich Shertenlieb, then the arrival of Rob 'Hardy' Poole as Fred Toucher's new co-host. Now, behind-the-scenes shake-ups are underway too. On Wednesday night, two long-time producers bid farewell to the 'Toucher and Hardy' show. Adam 12, who had been a host on sister station Rock 92.9 before leaving that role in September, is stepping into the executive producer position. This move makes sense since Beasley was already paying him. However, this transition blindsided another producer, Lockhart, who had been with Toucher and Hardy since their days at WBCN back in January 2009. He felt misled and underappreciated after being laid off by Beasley last October only to be brought back later when Shertenlieb offered to pay his salary himself. Lockhart asked for a raise but was offered a fraction of what he had originally requested. Feeling disrespected, Lockhart decided it was time to move on from the show and the company. His departure leaves Toucher, Hardy and Adam 12 as the new core team, at least for now. So what does all this mean? The Sports Hub is clearly going through a transition period. There's an opportunity here for a fresh start with new voices and perspectives. But there are also growing pains as people sort out their roles and compensation in light of recent changes to the on-air lineup. One question remains: will Beasley be able to keep this new team together or will more staff turnover be in store? Only time will tell if Toucher, Hardy, Adam 12 and the rest can gel into a cohesive unit that resonates with Boston sports fans. The next few months will be telling as they settle into their new routines. One thing is for sure: sports radio listeners should buckle up and expect some turbulence during this shake-up at the Sports Hub. Change isn't always easy, but it often leads to exciting new
