Tragedy Strikes Turkish Aerospace Firm in Deadly Attack

On Wednesday, a deadly attack shook the Turkish capital of Ankara. The target was the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS) headquarters. The attack left five people dead and 22 injured. Two assailants, a man and a woman, were also killed. The victims included four TUSAS employees and a taxi driver. A social media video confirmed by CNN showed the moment an explosion hit the TUSAS building. Another video from CCTV showed the attackers approaching the aerospace company's entrance with backpacks and guns. No group has claimed responsibility yet, but Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler suggested the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) might be behind it.

The PKK is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey and other nations. The attack happened a day after a suggestion to release the PKK’s jailed leader was made in Parliament. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was attending the BRICS summit in Russia, called the incident a “vile attack” that targeted the country’s defense industry. NATO and other international leaders expressed support for Turkey. The attack has raised many questions and concerns in Turkey.
