Tragic End for Alleged Shooter in Chicago Anti-Semitic Attack

Chicago, USATuesday, December 3, 2024
In a surprising turn of events, a man accused of shooting a Jewish man and firing at police in Chicago last October has died in what appears to be a suicide. Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, who was facing serious charges including terrorism and hate crimes, was found unresponsive at the Cook County Jail during a routine check. He was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead soon after. Authorities have stated there's no sign of foul play.
Abdallahi was accused of targeting a Jewish man on his way to a synagogue and then opening fire on responding officers and paramedics. The victim was hospitalized but later released, and no officers were injured. The alleged shooter was a Mauritanian national who had been encountered by US Border Patrol earlier in the year. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
