Trump's Attacks on Jan. 6 Committee: A Recipe for Chaos
United StatesSunday, September 15, 2024
But what if we assume that Trump is telling the truth and that the committee is simply trying to smear him? Would this excuse his behavior, or would it simply reveal a deeper problem with his willingness to manipulate the truth for his own political gain?
The recent report released by the committee has shed some new light on the events surrounding the riot, including allegations that Trump's driver, Bobby Engel, was present at the White House on Jan. 6 and may have had knowledge of the president's plans for that day. What if we assume that Engel is telling the truth, and that Trump was indeed involved in the planning of the riot? Would this change our understanding of the events, or would it simply confirm our worst fears about Trump's character?
The stakes are high, and the consequences of Trump's actions could be severe. As a nation, we must carefully consider the evidence and come to our own conclusions about what happened on Jan. 6. But we must also be careful not to get caught up in the politics of division and fear, and instead work towards a more just and equitable society for all.
