He also wrote about his changing views on Trump, describing himself as someone who once supported him but grew disillusioned. Routh's book, "Ukraine's Unwinnable War," revealed his strong opposition to Trump, calling him a "fool" and "buffoon." Despite the claims that Routh was a Republican or Democrat, his voting registration in North Carolina showed that he was unaffiliated with either party. He had voted in the 2024 Democratic primary, but hadn't voted since 2012 prior to that date. Routh's connections to North Carolina and Hawaii were also revealed. His deleted social media accounts showed a strong interest in the ongoing war in Ukraine, and he had even attempted to recruit foreign volunteers to fight on the front lines.
