Twisted Sister’s Lead Singer Steps Down, Shows Cancelled
The heavy‑metal group Twisted Sister announced that its 70‑year‑old frontman, Dee Snider, has quit the band because of health problems. The decision came after the singer revealed he can no longer keep up with the intense stage demands that defined his career.
Result: All of the planned reunion concerts for their 50th anniversary have been called off.
The band’s social media post said the “sudden and unexpected resignation” forced them to cancel shows from April onward. They added that the future of Twisted Sister will be decided in the coming weeks.
Snider explained that he suffers from degenerative arthritis and has undergone several surgeries, yet pain remains after just a few songs. He admitted he is no longer able to perform at the same high energy level he once did, even though he does not want to slow down.
Twisted Sister rose to fame in the 1980s with hits like “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock.” The former single reached the Top 40 and has since been used as a rallying cry in politics. Politicians such as former House Speaker Paul Ryan and President Donald Trump have played the track at events, though Snider later stopped its use.
The band’s decision to cancel shows highlights the toll that a lifelong career in rock can take on performers. While fans will miss the electrifying performances, the move underscores the importance of health and well‑being for artists.
