Baton Rouge, LA – Great news for two local schools! Mayfair Laboratory School and Saint Aloysius School have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious award goes to schools that shine in academic performance or make big strides in closing achievement gaps among students. Across Louisiana, seven schools were chosen for this honor. So, what makes these Baton Rouge schools special? East Baton Rouge Parish Schools Superintendent Lamont Cole says it’s all about the teachers. “Quality teachers providing quality education every day,” he said. These educators work tirelessly to ensure students learn at high levels daily. The Blue Ribbon award celebrates two types of schools: those that close achievement gaps exceptionally well and those that score in the top 15 percent on state and national assessments. As a symbol of their achievement, each school will proudly display an award flag at their entrance or on a flagpole. There’s more to come! The honorees will be celebrated at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on November 7 and 8, 2024. It's an exciting time for these schools and their communities!
