She had a transudative effusion—thin and low-protein fluid—likely due to something else, most likely her heart. This unusual combination is known as Contarini Syndrome, named after an old Doge of Venice who experienced something similar.

Why does this matter? Usually, when both lungs fill with fluid, it's due to the same problem. But in cases like this, doctors need to think of separate causes for each side.
